Glove Ports and Port Covers

Glove ports allow users to put their hands inside a closed chamber (glovebox, isolator, RABS), and manipulate products and perform procedures and processes. This can be done without disturbing the pristine, dry, or sterile workspace environment. Glove ports can be located in the front, on the sides, rear or top of a glovebox. The ports enable attachment of Sleeves and Gloves to access hazardous, aseptic, toxic, pyrophoric, and radioactive materials inside the glove box safely. The gloves ideally are attached to the glove box, in such a way that it forms an airtight enclosure. Though the glove box assembly is airtight, the gloves allow maximum mobility of the products present inside. The ergonomic design of Renco ports make it possible for the users to extend their arms and hands to handle materials present on the other side of the isolator barrier wall. Renco provides its customers with unique custom glove ports for a myriad of application requirements. RencoPorts™ and Titeline™ Nitrile Sleeve/Glove Systems were even built as Flight Hardware for the International Space Station on its Maintenance Workstation Containment Glovebag. Call us today to help design a work area/process control that will ergonomically fulfill the mission of your work team. Renco also ships entire replacement panels (Lexan/ PolyCarobonate, Acrylic, PVC etc.) with ports fully mounted and ready for installation.

Renco’s Glove Ports Structure

The typical gloveport assembly consists of various important parts, including:

  • Grooved Glove port
  • Mounting ring
  • Gaskets
  • Sleeves
  • Gloves
  • Fasteners

The port assembly is often secured using eight to ten bolts/studs. The ports are designed to fit in walls of diverse thicknesses which helps determine the length of screws used. These ports have a grooved cylinder protruding to the outside which allows the attachment of the gloves. These sleeves can be covered when they are not in use. Accordion sleeves help reduce the glove weight on the users arms.
